86'd FILMS co-founded by Kevin Chenault and Lavender Timmons evolved from Blackstrap Pictures with the intention of committing further to independent film production. First full feature was released in 2011 by Blackstrap Pictures, YOUNG ISLANDS written and directed by Kevin Chenault, produced by Jill Nellis and Lavender Timmons. YOUNG ISLANDS inspired Gulcher Records, a record company founded in 1977 to become first time film distributors and release the film on DVD. It is also available digitally through Indiepix. THE STRANGERS (short film) written and directed by Kevin Chenault, produced by Lavender Timmons and Jill Nellis premiered at the 2011 Fly Over Film festival.In 2013, Blackstrap released Different Drum, a full-length feature written and directed by Kevin Chenault and produced by Tim Hallahan. Praised for its "deliberate visual style" and described as "delightfully naturalistic, utterly human and relatable to our times" by Way Too Indie, Different Drum was released by BrinkVision and is digitally available on Amazon and iTunes. 2016 sees Blackstrap transition into 86'd Films with LATTIE, a new full-length feature written and directed by Chenault and produced by Lavender Timmons.
